Details
It is the Open Day that everyone has been waiting for which is our Scotland Open Day taking place in the new location of Oban and best of all, the event will be coinciding with the spectacular Clipper Round the World Yacht Race stopover. For the first time in history, this incredible offshore sailing race fleet of 60 foot race yachts will stop in Oban for a week of fantastic festivities. With our flagship "Confidence" now based in Oban, it will be the launch of Confidence's start to the season and we will be running our annual open day from the Oban Sailing Club where we will be running free of charge sailing trips around Oban Bay for all with autism plus their families/carers. All from all across Scotland plus visitors are welcome to come along to find out about the charity, sign up to our community sails, learn about sailing through the "Yacht in a Box" game developed by the Making Waves Foundation in Australia.
Confidence will be providing 45-minute sailing trips around Oban Bay from 11am (first sail) until 4pm (last sail at 3pm). Sailing slots MUST be booked in advance and each 45-minute slot has space for 6 guests on board. The route will be down the Sound of Kerrera and back up via a quick loop past the North Pier Pontoons to a on-the-water view of the Clipper fleet before returning to the starting point. Confidence will be parked at the Oban Bay Community Landing Stage Pontoon at Dungallan Park just across from the Oban Sailing Club. Check in will take place in the clubhouse and participents will be asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled sail. Please also be aware that in the clubhouse there will be a host of activities taking place as well as the provision of teas, coffees, club bar and a Free BBQ! All are welcome to join in all the activities planned on the day. Our Impala 28 race yacht will also be parked on the pontoon and open for all to come and view it.
Please do book early to secure your sailing spot, especially given the presence of the Clipper Fleet, as for some, it will be a once in a lifetime chance to see these remarkable boats.

We can't wait to welcome you in Oban for a truly fantastic day both on and off the water!
Terms and Conditions:
Tickets usually become fully booked very quickly so please be prompt to avoid missing out.
All people under the age of 18 and adults with high support needs must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their safety. This adult must be capable of keeping an eye on all of the children and high needs adults in their care. Please be aware that, while you are free to use your discretion as to how many individuals you are capable of supervising, the boat environment may be more demanding than the environment you are used to and there is an absolute maximum of four children or high needs adults to each accompanying adult (known as a 1:4 ratio).
You must book a ticket for EVERY person who will be on board the boat. Please ensure that all members of your party are booked onto the same boat and the same time slot. If your party is larger than the available space on any remaining sail, you may split it into two or more sub-parties, but please ensure that the sub-parties are adequately in ratio in terms of supervision by accompanying adults.
There are five time slots. Please ensure that you book on a time slot that enables you to travel to the venue in plenty of time for your trip.
Some of the details you provide will be passed along to our volunteers to enable them to adapt as best possible to your needs. This will include your name, age group, the other members of your party, the time slot you are booked on, whether you have consented to have photos and videos taken, which members of your party have autism and any additional information you provide regarding the physical, social and psychological needs of the members of your party. It will be limited to information that enables the volunteers to provide you with the best possible experience and so will not include your email address.
Please ensure that you provide an email address which you check regularly as you will receive information about the Open Day in the week running up to the event to help your trip run smoothly.
If you discover that you are no longer able to attend the event for any reason, please contact us at kirstyaotw1@gmail.com so that your tickets can be reallocated to another family.
All spaces are free but donations are always welcome. You can donate using our DONATE page on this website.
