Details

We are delighted to announce our return to Haslar Marina for our first South Coast event of the year. Due to high demand, we strongly recommend booking your free tickets early to secure your place.

We have four vessels taking part in the open day:

Arabesque: Sigma 33 OOD sailing yacht (33ft sailing yacht)

Lyra of London: Swan 431 (43ft sailing yacht)

Therapia: 6m motorboat

Rachael: Hanse 325 (32ft sailing yacht)

While all sessions are completely free of charge, voluntary donations are greatly appreciated to support the ongoing work of Autism on the Water.

Please only book one session per party to make sure as many autistic individuals and their families can experience the fun of the day as possible.

Booking Requirements

  • Individual Registration: Each attendee must complete a separate registration form.

  • Supervision Requirements:

    • All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

    • Adults requiring high levels of support must also be accompanied by a familiar and capable carer.

    • One adult may accompany a maximum of three individuals (children or adults).

    • Accompanying adults must also register for a ticket.

Event Location and Activities

  • Location: Haslar Marina, by the entrance to the pontoon closest to the Lightship restaurant. A registration marquee will be set up on the seafront next to the marina gate—please check in here upon arrival. Guests will be escorted to the boats by a member of the team; please do not proceed to the pontoons independently.

  • Activities: Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a one-hour experience aboard one of several vessels, including three sailing yachts and one motorboat.

Safety Information

  • Life Jackets: Life jackets are mandatory for all participants while on the pontoon and on board the vessels. These will be provided, and assistance will be available to ensure they are properly fitted.

  • Pontoon Access: Please do not enter the pontoon area until you have been welcomed by a member of our team and fitted with a life jacket.

What to Bring

  • Clothing: We advise all attendees to dress appropriately for potentially cooler and wetter conditions on the water. Waterproof jackets are recommended.

  • Footwear: Please wear suitable non-slip shoes such as old trainers or boots. There is a possibility of getting splashed on all vessels.

Communication

  • Please ensure the email address you provide is monitored regularly, as this is where you will receive your confirmation, event details, and joining instructions.

Privacy and Data Handling

  • Information submitted through the booking form will be stored securely and used solely for the purpose of ensuring your safety and enhancing your experience.

  • Relevant details (e.g., name, age, autism diagnosis, and support needs) will be shared with event volunteers to ensure appropriate support can be provided.

  • Contact details will only be accessible to key volunteers responsible for registration and communications.

  • You can find our privacy policy here

Photography and Media Consent

  • During registration, you will be asked to indicate whether you consent to photographs or video being taken of your party. These may be used in future promotional materials.

  • Declining media consent will not affect your booking.

  • If you change your mind regarding consent on the day, please inform the check-in team upon arrival.

Cancellations and Reserve List

  • If you are no longer able to attend, please notify us as soon as possible by emailing bookings@aotw.org.uk. This allows us to offer your place to someone on the waiting list.

  • A waiting list will be maintained; to be added, please contact the same email address.

Arrival Time

To ensure a smooth experience, please arrive at the check-in point at least 20 minutes before your scheduled sailing time. For example, if your booking is for 11:00am, arrive no later than 10:40am. Participants arriving after this time may forfeit their place.

If you have any questions or require further information, please don't hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard for an enjoyable and memorable day on the water!
